Should Healing and Spiritual Work Be Cheap or Free?

Should Healing or ‘Spiritual’ work be Cheap or Free?

It’s interesting and quite a loaded question and a topic I’ve grappled with a lot over the years. A topic that holds great charge for many. I’d like to start with Story.

In the days of old, the Healers, Preachers, Sages and Seers, were revered and respected. Anywhere they went they’d be fed and clothed, treated with respect and would often help those around in need for FREE. There was an exchange of energy that took place and these people had all the earthly needs met, this exchange was common among all peoples of the earth, beyond, race, creed and culture. Over hundreds of years a strong program, belief or maybe even expectation was steeped into human DNA from these times that, ‘ Healing Work Should be Free’.

Flick forward to 2018 and we live in a very different world. Whilst Healing on this planet is needed more than ever, those doing this work still need to pay for Business Overheads, Rent, Food and look after their families. A tricky spot to be as a Healer when the program that Healing should be 'Cheap' or ‘Free’ is running or there’s guilt or shame locked in around receiving or giving money. I've observed this pattern in many healers leading to an epidemic of undercharging for their services and therefore getting burned out, dejected and/or totally giving up sharing their gifts and doing a ‘normal job’ instead.

I know on my journey I’ve had to grapple with these limiting programs both as a receiver of Healing and now as a Healer myself. What shows up in sessions as a root cause are vows of poverty locked in from the past as a Healer or limiting beliefs about money, money being dirty/shameful/horrible or phrases like 'Rich People are all Crooks', sometimes they're directly inherited from our parents or locked in through our reaction to an experience. To be honest it doesn't surprise me either because through much of human history there's been control structures such as the 'Royals' for instance, whereby those with the 'money', had dominion over all the people and lands and did they not necessarily use it for Good. All that stuff plays into our ‘framing’ around money, even in the collective unconscious. Many healers I work with even experience guilt at charging for their time and energy. It's interesting as I don't see plumbers, mechanics or electricians questioning charging out for their time and skills. Even within the Healing Realm I also personally don't see any difference between a Physio, Councillor or Chiropractor's value and the value of a Kinesiologist, Acupuncturist or Spirit Healer either. It's interesting how our minds work.

Also as Healers and Therapists many of us have invested $10 000’s of dollars in training and thousands of hours of practicing and honing our skills as well as integrating them into life. Albeit in a world where it’s not an easy or normal path, one that is often undervalued. When people pay us it goes into paying that off plus my continued development to hone skills further and of course as means to feed our families and live our dreams.

And my final point is this, there's also the premise that if you don’t value yourself enough in your own created reality, you'll attract those who are a match for those thoughts/feelings/emotions and beliefs, hence the merry go round continues, this applies to any aspect of life and career path. I now charge for my services because I know the value and I stand in it, and where I do choose I give discounts or do free sessions for those in need, it’s on my terms in alignment with my power and integrity! The results are so much better for all involved this way, and I know this because I’ve tried many approaches over the years. I can honestly say people get WAY better results when they are invested into the work, no matter what it is!

Personally I’m now at the point where I’ve worked hard on my mindset and negative beliefs around money. I’ve lived through a lot of scarcity, fear and lack in this area of life and it's not served me well, I've had enough. Now I choose not to see money as bad or dirty, I embrace money into my life, so I have more choice to do more good on this planet. I also know it’s bloody difficult to help others your base needs are not met, it does not feel good. For me it's not the money itself that matters its 'WHAT' you do to obtain it and 'WHAT' you choose to invest it on once you've obtained it that counts. The world needs more wealthy people who CARE, so instead of more greed and destruction there's more positive change and free flow.

Hopefully one day we’ll re-enter the world where goods and services are exchanged and Healing is ‘Free’ but for now value your healers/preachers/teachers, and value yourself, the world needs us! If you’re a healer running negative programs and you can’t sustain your business or look after your family, consider getting some work done on those issues. It’s amazing the shift that happens when you value yourself and change your belief as, when you shift your inner would, your experience 'out there' shifts around to match. And if you're someone who can afford to truly do healing work Cheap or Free ( or anyone in any field doing Pro-Bono work ) and you feel great about it and valued in the process, that is beautiful too (:>. Thankyou!

Big love
