Hi Everyone
Welcome to Blog number 5. Today I'll be exploring the Topic of Space Holding and Empathy without taking stuff on. As so many of my clients are Healers and 'People Workers' who are often quite sensitive, this feels like a very apt topic.
Here is another topic dear to my heart, as from a very young Age I've always 'Felt' so much from my environment and the world. I've always had extra senses and could 'feel' what others around were feeling without even speaking to them, I'd often know things were going to happen before they'd happen, I could feel it. Unfortunately I never learned skills to deal with this until later in life and for many of us this is both a blessing and a curse. As I grew and was introduced to New Age circles and ways of thinking, I quickly began to identify with the idea that I too was an' Empath', (someone who feels and takes on other peoples stuff). Little did I know, fast forward 15 years, I would choose not to identify under this banner anymore. Why not you may ask? I will explain more below.
Basically I've come to realize that, when we identify as something or someone we put ourselves into a box and often define or limit our potential and/or create more of the same in life. In the case of Empath's its often the box where, 'The world is painful', 'I can feel it, Ouch', 'I'm a victim to my surroundings and others suffering', OR 'I'm super Spiritual because I'm an Empath' or the Spiritual Ego of 'Being an Empath makes me extra special' and many more other linked beliefs and assumptions.
I know I certainly lived in this state of being a victim to 'energies' and everyone around me and how they felt, along with feeling slightly more evolved because of it. The problem was that I couldn't hold space properly for myself or others and was constantly carrying around other people's stuff and NOT dealing with my own properly, it was exhausting. I see this very commonly among Empath's and i see it crippling them from living an Empowered Life and taking responsibility for Themselves. As a Healer/Kinesiologist in my early 20's I could help others but because I wasn't holding space properly as the observer, I'd literally walk away with their injuries and all their baggage, they'd feel great and I'd be a mess. This eventually led to burnout and turning away from the healing path for quite a while, that is until I found a new Belief System to operate with.
Through getting Holographic Kinetics sessions, I was able to get to the root of WHY i was taking on everyone's stuff and the effect it was having on me. After some serious clearing and learning new skills to be able to be embodied in my own body, Strong, Clear and Present, I'm much more able to be the observer to other peoples pain without taking it on as my own now. I can be more compassionate and loving and stay charged up in the process. From there and holding a clear and observant space, people are literally able to unravel energetically and emotionally and stuff can be cleared, just as effectively, more effectively even. I then walk away on my own dimension and set the client free on theirs, this also goes for interactions with people in Daily life too.
I'm still highly perceptive and intuitive, I still feel a lot, although I now operate from a place of self-responsibility with those gifts and I don't need to take on other peoples stuff because of it. It's liberating and empowering! This has been a revolutionary step in my evolution. Which means I'm way more effective as a Practitioner, Change Maker, Father and General Member of Society. A big part of keeping these gifts in balance is the daily practice I've written about previously and taking daily steps to keep myself centered and embodied and actually taking action to clear stuff when it comes up ( yes stuff still comes up for us as healers ). This also extents to choosing the people and situations I choose to engage in and what 'Feels Right,' operating from a place of personal responsibility', avoiding substances and foods that throw me off center etc. This keeps my boundaries strong and clear and my mind observant to what is instead of 'reacting', especially if i am in a situation that is less than ideal.
Can you relate? Is identifying as an Empath serving you? I'd love to hear your comments below.
Big Love
