Social Media and Tech Addiction. The Great Disconnect.

March 27, 2019

Hi guys

It’s been a while since I’ve written. Today’s blog post is on Social Media and Tech, an area I’m particularly interested in, especially because I have young children.

I’ve seen more and more clients lately with a literal addiction to their phone and/or social media. I myself even  have to periodically take breaks to stop getting to pulled into the vortex. Here was my parting FB post that spurred on this Blog;

‘ I honestly feel like social media is one of the most sickness inducing aspects of our society today. That’s why today I’m switching it off for a few days. Anyone who knows me, knows that I like to take periodic breaks from it.

It see it like a wormhole, a vortex and it opens you up to a million and 1 opinions stories and realities that are simply not yours to carry! So so much information passes through your consciousness when scrolling and how much of it is truly uplifting, inspiring or leaves you feeling Great? How much of it generates true connection with self or others?

We need to live our best selves into this world, think for ourselves and be the creator beings that we are, otherwise we just start to ‘think’ and ‘feel’ like everyone else! No thanks!

See you in a few days folks and if this post resonates. Be brave and sign off for a few days and put that time and energy into catching up with a friend, loved one or doing something you ❤️.’’

The thing with social media is that it keeps  is in a bubble of fakeness, comparisons and targeted news and ads. Whilst we think it’s a fluid experience, what we see is highly monitored and controlled, a negative feedback loop if you will. Not to mention that fact that people say things on FB they’d never say In real life to a real person. Just go onto a debate about a contentious topic like vaccines or politics and you’d wonder where common human decently had gone!

From a spiritual perspective I’m seeing it becoming more of a problem in that it pulls out out of ourselves and body into the screen AND open us up to all kinds of things energetic and otherwise we’d never normally be exposed to, not to mention adgendas behind the scenes. Think back 100 years to now, people would have maybe a handful of focuses for life and now we literally have 100’s. I’m not sure it’s healthy!

According to an ABC news article from 2016

‘Australian men unlock their phones more than anyone in the world - on average 45 to 46 times a day, while for Australian women it is around 42 times.

Those figures have been calculated by AntiSocial, an app developed by Melbourne software company Bugbean, to monitor people's use of social media.’

I truly feel that humanity needs to find balance in this otherwise it will seriously stunt our Spiritual growth as real, organic human beings. I really feel for the next generation of children coming through who have parents who are distracted by screens and are themselves plopped in front of them from a very age.

If you’re experiencing problems putting down your device, logging off FB or other social media we can look at it with Holographic kinetics, where it all began and treat this issue like any other. Then you can reclaim the relationship with social media on yours terms.

In the meantime, just set yourself a goal to take a few days of per month or on Sundays and put your focus into nature and the real world. It’s a free and powerful first step.

The irony that the above post was written on social media is not lost on me! Nor that I’ll post this blog online. In the end it’s all about balance and staying in our centre and connected to Spirit see we can be who we CHOOSE to be, on the internet and in life.

See you in the Real.

Big ❤️

Jonny

Ps I probably would not have written this blog if I was still scrolling on FB, what could you be/learn/create with the extra time? Only one way to find out!
